I'm here because it's a place where I want to be.

What do I do with my life - still pondering that, keep exploring the possibilities I suppose...

I do have another more personal moblog Vivupclose

Take a look at my daughter Beth's website...

food for thought...

Everyone, in some small sacred sanctuary of the self, is nuts. -Leo Rosten, author (1908-1997)

We think caged birds sing, when indeed they cry. -John Webster, playwright (c. 1580-1634)

There are two kinds of light -- the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures. -James Thurber, writer and cartoonist (1894-1961)

The artist brings something into the world that didn't exist before, and he does it without destroying something else. -John Updike, writer (1932-2009)

Some people become so expert at reading between the lines they don't read the lines. -Margaret Millar, novelist (1915-1994)

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest. -Elie Wiesel, writer, Nobel laureate (b. 1928)

my new blinds...

(viewed 1582 times)
They've been up just over a fortnight now.

Saw the material before Christmas and ordered the blinds then worried about it until they were up - so much money if they don't look right, were my measurements ok etc but I'm happy - I love the calmness of the room.

more Paul Jones

(viewed 2282 times)
From The Manfreds in the 60's to blues master and aficionado.

Loved 'Manfred Mann' and in the past few years have enjoyed seeing Paul Jones reunited with the Manfreds and as part of 'The Blues Band' and now close up with just Dave Kelly another blues master and member of the Blues band.

Friday night - Paul Jones and Dave Kelly

Playing for just 120 of us (a full house) at Keighley Blues Club.
Fantastic ...
privileged :)

SAY NO to factory farmed cows...

(viewed 1247 times)
Seems I jumped to conclusions about this - I'm thinking perhaps a group moblog to explore the pro's and cons of petitions/campaigns could be interesting :)

image from www.38degrees.org.uk

The petition:

To: Tony McArdle, Chief Executive of Lincolnshire County Council, all councillors in Lincolnshire and North Kesteven District Council

Please don't let plans for 'mega-dairies' go ahead in Lincolnshire.

These farms would make a big contribution to climate change and undermine more responsible, sustainable cattle farms in Lincolnshire and the rest of the UK.

Keeping cows inside almost all year is cruel and there is evidence that cows kept in factory farms suffer as a result.

Please do all you can to stop these mega-dairy style farms being built in Lincolnshire.
