I think thats an expression of disbelief. We'd been out the for a night drive the evening before - 2 hours sat in the back of a cold truck - especially to see elephants and saw nothing more than a pair of porcupines. The last thing we expected was a pachyderm ambush!

Diane was very lucky it didn't put its full weight on her. She's from the US and said that the only thing she could think to do was the grizzly bear defence: play dead.
