Oh sweet lord, where was this? At least the tape & theodelites from the last pic don't perforce mean critical injuries or fatalities now I see that Officer Dibble was involved. Seem to recall that the full bells & whistles accident report is an IPCC requirement.

It's in quite the mess though...

Headrow, just kitty corner from the art gallery. The merc in the other shot is the car this one t-boned. Both were in good shape, passenger-comparment wise, so am hoping no serious injuries. Was on my way to meet Helen so couldn't poke around and ask.

Ooops! Glad no-one looked too badly hurt.

Helen says:

I saw a guy with a telephoto lens get a shot of this. Looked rather severe.

RTAs seem to be a bit of a habit with Leeds police, here's one from June when they hit a taxi; http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/Leeds-city-centre-police-car.4148046.jp
A couple of weeks later, down in Chapeltown; http://www.citylite.co.uk/news/Five-injured-in-Leeds-police.4187659.jp
Seacroft, three weeks ago;

I daren't look any more - who in the name of the Wacky Races is running their pursuit training?

The reports fail to mention that the mercedes was forced off the road and hit two pedestrains.

Me and my wife.

My wife is still very ill in Pontefract hospital after sustaining a cheek bone fracture on impact with the wind shield.

I just can't believe this has happened - and am even more shocked to find out that this is not first time WY police have crashed on the headrow this year.

Wow.. so sorry to hear that jmc.. all that was left when I got there were the vehicles. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for a full recovery for your wife.

Helen says:

That's rather shocking.

Must say I've been a little twitchy whenever I've seen a police car on The Headrow over the last couple of days. Can't begin to imagine the effect on your wife. Hope she makes a smooth recovery.

jmc says:

fingers crossed.

It is going to take a while if her condition today is anything to go by

Cheers

I saw the hole accident as it happened. JMC, weren't you thrown into the air and across the bonnit? I am annoyed also that the hitting of pedestrians has failed to have been reported

hildegard says:

JMC - Going by the images, considerable speed was involved, so first up, a very hearty "Phew!" that you're both still with us & do hope you're both soon completely recovered. Cheekbone fractures are vile, my every sympathy to your wife...

Many, many apologies if I'm about to teach grandma to suck eggs, but do make sure all your injuries are fully documented. Take pics to show the extent of abrasions, etc, photograph the full extent of bruising as it comes up, & go on taking pics to show how long things take to heal.

I only mention it because it's not a reflexive part of the proper & normal human responses to trauma. ;)

Hi there,

JMC - my sincerest regards to you and your wife. I hope you both have a speedy recovery.

I witness the crash and called the ambulance. You don't need me to tell you both how lucky you are.I honestly thought the injuries would have been more severe, I was in a similar accident in s yorkshire 4 years ago and can only start to imagine how you are both feeling.

I could not believe the speed at which the policecar was travelling and that the reports of the incident fail to say what actually happened. I think its a disgrace to those that were involved.
